"ZDNN
- Does the Media Promote Hacking?" heh, i guess
"the media is the message" doesn't apply here.. since the
media is technically the target (or often the conveyance).. but ya,
its a shame, i wont be attending Defcon 7, like i hoped. but money and
a few problem heres (and deadlines) are preventing me from joining my
hax0r buddies.. oh well, no big deal, i'll catch it later.
"Every step in the evolution of hackers, the media has
gotten the story wrong," said Jon Katz, a media critic with Slashdot.org
and Wired Magazine.
"When the media uses the term 'hacker,' they are really talking about
vandals. It doesn't help that the media falls into the trap every
time."
Graffiti on the Net One indication of the media's effect on hacking:
Such unwelcome Web intrusions, at least anecdotally, are on the rise.

"Mullet
Classification" rofl!. its not what your thinking..
now im not referring to the fish. nor would i post a link classifying
those fish (unless it looked really fucking cool or something).. anyway,
my paste below, has nothing to do with the link, its just the definition
of a "mullet".
mul.let \'m*l-*t\ n or mullet or mullets [ME molet,
fr. MF mulet, fr. L mullus red mullet, fr. Gk m] pl yllos; akin to
Gk melas black, Skt malina dirty, black 1: any of a family (Mugilidae)
of valuable food fishes 2: any of a family (Mullidae) of moderate-sized
usu. red or golden fishes w ith two barbels on the chin

"CNet
- AOL quites Cellular Broadcasts" ah, yes.. AOL
is trying to stop the Shoutcast broadcasts (since they own NullSoft
now :). oh well, atleast they're not trying to make money from it..
or, make it gayer by sticking banners and stuff in it..

|
"Wired
- Private Lives bared on the internet" ehhe, more
on the shoutcast cell broadcasts, except this one refers directly to
the link i posted yesterday
Voices drift through the ether, over cell phones, from
somewhere in Vancouver, British Columbia.
In a heavy working-class Canadian accent, a man says good morning
to his girlfriend, who is half asleep. She asks him if there's any
coffee left.
Neither is aware that a hacker known only as DwC is capturing their
words with a Bearcat BC200XLT scanner, and netcasting their intimate
chat live onto the Internet with Shoutcast, a streaming MP3 service.

if you live in British Columbia (Canada) and have a none GSM Cellphone,
your being monitored (well, prolly not all of you, just those around
the reciever of whoever is encoding this).. but ya, this is hilarious,
i've been listening to it since yesterday.. hearing stories about concerts,
and house parties, and even a few drug deals.. its like a living soap
opera. except that the chicks in BC are fucking idiots (thats right,
prove me wrong). there was one girl, who couldn't stop swearing, and
it wasn't an angry swear, it was a casual "shit fuck fuck shit
shit my son has a big head fuck ass".. oh well.. listen.. its funny..

"The
Real Power Macintosh" ahha. these guys at RMIT University
(in austrialia) did what i'd do with a broken mac (well, i'd do it to
a non broken one aswell though).. they came across a power mac laptop
with a buss'ed LCD screen, so it is affectly worthless. so, they grabbed
some loose wires and connected some stuff that shouldn't be connected,
then plugged it in, check it out.. its actually pretty cool.. i like
it.. especially the before and after pictures.. (And the during pics
are even funnier)..

this isn't flash, but it looks like it. its a neato game where you have
to milk cows before they either explode, implode or just die.. and no..
you dont get to mount the cows.. so its strickly a milking process,
no humping.. but enjoy, my high score was 850pts. but i suck..

"Christian
Analysis of American Culture - Southpark review"
hehe, this is a review of the new southpark movie from our (well, not
my locals, cuz it says "AMERICAN") Chrisitan Zealots. this
is fucking hilarious.. you gotta read it. oh and theres more of these
christian reviews here
Satan is portrayed as the homosexual lover of Saddam Hussein
and is portrayed as a sensitive, loving and caring being. Hussein
waves his disembodied male member around. And it was not a cardboard
drawing like most other images of the movie -- it was of photographic
resolution. The most foul of the foul words was clearly spoken *by
the children* at least 131 times and many other times in a muffled
or garbled way. The three/four letter word vocabulary was used at
least 119 times. God's name in vain was used 11 times without the
four letter expletive and 6 times with it. And many times the child
characters were saying things like "What's the big deal" (about the
foul language). "Suck my --", "Let's ([homo]sexual intercourse)",
and repeated questions about a female private organ were but a very
few of the vulgar expressions used by the kids.

"The
Register - Intel to cancel dual Celeron combo" great....
one of the best things Intel has done to the processor market (the Celeron).
This 'little' chips compete with there equal mhz counterparts the P2's
rather well.. and infact. when mixed with some knowledge and a dual
p2 (bx/lx) board, they make one mean server.. not that i'd know. im
still working on the cash to buy a dual board (prolly an Asus, or a
Supermicro). but i'm accepting donations :).. (ya right, you guys dont
even click my banner :). but thats ok, im not forcing you to do anything..
oh well, ya, anyway intel is gonna try to disable SMP checks on the
chips. so stay tuned...
